Well, this is it. My last post in your university year. I’m sure at one point or another this thought has crossed your mind: You’re sitting in a lecture, losing concentration and zoning out. Probably also resisting the urge to check your phone for the 15th time in five minutes, as you look over at the PowerPoint slide on the board and wonder what relevance it will have in the “real world.”
I wasn’t very involved in high school. Actually, I was (and still am) an introvert. I drew energy from creating time for myself, which in high school meant whenever I was off work and out of school because I didn’t see the value in extra-curricular activities. If there’s one thing I appreciate, it is the opportunity to try on something before I am required to commit to it. It might just be me, but having the ability to try on clothes before buying them, or spending a few weeks in a course before deciding if it’s really for me gives me the comfort of knowing that I am making the right decision for a particular goal I want to achieve (i.e., refreshing my wardrobe, or boosting my GPA).
It’s officially 2019! I’m sure you have big things planned this year both academically and personally. Are you planning on boosting your GPA? How about landing your dream job/internship?
